SUMMARY:Under The Atrium: Savannah Read & Madelyn Read
DESCRIPTION:UNDER THE ATRIUM: SAVANNAH READ & MADELYN READ\nFRIDAY\, OCTOBER 20th\, 2023 \nVenue: KW PRODUCTION STUDIO – Woodwards Building – #10 – 111 Hastings St W\, Vancouver\, BC V6B 1H4\nDoors: 7:30 PM\nShow: 8:00 PM \nALL AGES / DRY EVENT (Non-Alcoholic Beverages + Mocktails Offered) \nSliding Scale Ticket Pricing + PWYC At The Door\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/721694747417?aff=oddtdtcreator \nSavannah Read \nSavannah Read is a jazz and RnB-inspired singer-songwriter from Vancouver\, BC who aims to break the boundaries of genre. Her latest self-produced single\, “Swim & Drive”\, does just that\, capturing the unexpected happiness\, shared moments\, and occasional doubts that arise when summer feels too good to be true. This release follows her single “Outerspace” from May 2023 and her 2021 debut EP\, Honey\, There’s a Lot of Trouble!. Savannah’s music pulls influence from artists like Eloise\, Dodie\, Rex Orange County\, and Charlie Burg\, creating a unique blend of alternative indie-pop. \nOver the past five years\, Savannah has been a frequent solo and accompanied performer at shows around Vancouver and Victoria\, BC. Notable performances include a self-organized\, cross-Canada tour with singer-songwriter duo\, Arbutus\, in 2019\, placing first at the University of Victoria Battle of the Bands in March of this year\, and performing at Foodstock Festival in June 2023 alongside Said the Whale\, and Fake Shark. \n \nMadelyn Read \nThough she may have spent her whole life in the city of Vancouver BC\, Madelyn’s heart is in the rural tales of Folk/Americana music. This duality of urban and country is ever present in her music\, as she pulls inspiration from Folk/Americana groups like I’m with Her\, Joni Mitchell\, and First Aid Kit and blends these sounds with lyrics about growing up in an urban centre. \nHer debut album\, Concrete Country (released May 19\, 2023)\, represents a modern Canadiana that asks\, “What does it mean to live in a North American city in the 21st century?” Madelyn’s nostalgic and haunting songs feel like a lonesome train ride through the prairies that brings you straight into a bustling downtown core. An ode to home that is full of love and frustration\, Concrete Country is a striking\, thought-provoking\, and heart-warming collection for the urban lover of folk. \n \nAbout The Series – UNDER THE ATRIUM \nDiscover your new favourite troubadour. \n3 evenings. 6 artists.
