SAD \nCurated by Rob Thomson \nThis event is hosted on the unceded and traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples – sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish)\, selíʔlwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. \nThursday\, May 22nd\, 2025\nShow: 8:00 pm\nDoors: 7:30 pm \nVenue: Fox Cabaret – 2321 Main St\, Vancouver \nTickets: General Admission (Sliding Scale) – $15 to $25\nPWYC (Pay what you can) tickets may be available at the door if the show has not sold out. Please reach out to info@vimhouse.ca if you would like to attend but are facing financial barriers. \nAbout Nimkish: \n \nTo fully immerse in the multitudes of Indigenous rising star Nimkish is to honour the past\, look ahead to the future\, and bask in the resplendent present all at once. The Vancouver-based marvel-in-the-making is fearless in her lyricism\, confronting anti-Indigenous racism and colonial violence alongside other hard subjects like anxiety\, grief and heartache. To the great tradition of singer-songwriters healing through their music\, Nimkish brings a bright-eyed aim to flourish in all she has experienced. Stylistically\, Nimkish exists in a realm between Kehlani and King Princess\, softly orbiting Sabrina Claudio. \nHer lyrics give affirmation to past pain while living in the moment. To some it may sound like escapism\, to others it may sound like moxie-driven R&B-pop pulsing through the club. What’s certain is her fortitude — she’s an it-girl on a mission\, combining the coolness and creativity of the TikTok generation with the lucidity and confidence of a grown ass woman. \nAbout Cordie M. Sad: \n \nCordie M. Sad is an art rock project based in Vancouver\, BC\, led by vocalist Cordelia Donovan. Blending haunting melodies with vivid storytelling\, the music transforms raw emotion into immersive sonic landscapes. With influences ranging widely from pop to prog to punk\, each song is a journey through beauty\, pain\, and the spaces in between. \nKnown for its dynamic arrangements and unfiltered intensity\, Cordie M. Sad crafts music that lingers long after the final note. Whether through intricate instrumentation or stark vulnerability\, the project invites listeners into a world where connection and catharsis soothe our heartaches\, offering both reflection and release. \n___________________________________ \nVenue Accessibility: General admission tickets are standing room only with limited\, first-come-first serve bar seating along the back of the room. DESCRIPTION:Vancouver Independent Music Centre Society (VIM) Presents: \nMUSIC AT THE CINEMAS: everyb0dy / Tsimka & Michael Red \nCurated by Rob Thomson\n \nThis event is hosted on the unceded and traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples – sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish)\, selíʔlwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh)\, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. \nThursday\, June 5th\, 2025\nShow: 8:00 pm\nDoors: 7:30 pm \nVenue: Fox Cabaret – 2321 Main St\, Vancouver\nTickets: General Admission (Sliding Scale) – $15 to $25 \nPWYC (Pay what you can) tickets may be available at the door if the show has not sold out. Please reach out to info@vimhouse.ca if you would like to attend but are facing financial barriers.  \n\nAbout everyb0dy\n\nEveryb0dy (led by Kelsey Wavey) is an Indigenous led indie grunge pop band based in “vancouver”. What started as a synthpop duo back in 2022\, has grown into a 4 piece band that plays up beat bangers and protest anthems that intend to shake their listener. Follow them at @everyb0dy.band on instagram! \nhttps://www.instagram.com/p/C__zcaSytc6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== \n  \n\nAbout Tsimka & Michael Red\nTsimka & Michael Red is a collaboration of music from the land and from the heart (and knowing and listening). \nTsimka sings and speaks and sometimes plays a drum. Most lyrics are in Tsimka’s heritage language Tia-o qui-aht ƛaʔuukwiʔatḥ.ḥ Her themes deal with love\, cleansing\, healing\, liberation through imagining and more. Michael creates and reveals music & atmospheres with the natural sounds recorded by Tsimka from her ƛaʔuukwiʔatḥ home territory\, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory (where she lived recently for 2 years). \nBreaking ice as light percussive rhythym\, bull kelp head explosions becoming kick drum patterns\, a Squamish valley wolf\, a large cat in the dark.. Cixwatsac (Frank Island frogs)\, Swainson’s Thrush\, other birds. a little creek at Hiłwinʔis\, ocean\, rain and mist. Tsimka’s voice is also used as an instrument through live fx and is embedded in Michael’s pre-made production (which is dubbed out and layered and effected live). Words and tones and expressions are shaped and woven into all layers of the sonic fabric\, from deeply embedded to very visible. \nTsimka: vocals\, drum\, live vocal processing\nMichael Red: live dubbing of pre-recorded stems\, live & spontaneous vocal processing and looping\, other layers of sound & live manipulation \n\n \n\n\nVenue Accessibility:  \nGeneral admission tickets are standing room only with limited\, first-come-first serve bar seating along the back of the room.
