Audiences must exercise caution. People who see this band are rarely the same again. If the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio were an inanimate object\, it would be a runaway train. \nCanadian pianist Jeremy Ledbetter is a fiery\, passionate performer whose music knows no boundaries. His compositions are wildly creative and deeply emotional. At Ledbetter’s hands\, the piano roars\, whispers\, cries\, and laughs\, telling stories as only he can\, evoking cinematic images in the listeners’ minds. \nThe Jeremy Ledbetter Trio’s second album\, “Gravity”\, sees Jeremy joined by Grammy-winning drummer Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy) and renowned electric bassist Rich Brown (Steve Coleman’s Five Elements)\, who offer the perfect counterpart to Ledbetter’s iconoclastic energy at the piano.“Gravity” has taken the jazz world by storm\, racking up a Juno Award (Canada’s top music prize) for Jazz Album of the Year\, the title “Best in Canadian Jazz” from Jazz FM91\, and over half a million streams worldwide. For this concert\, the gifted and versatile bassist Andrew Stewart replaces Brown. \nJeremy Ledbetter – piano\nAndrew Stewart – bass\nLarnell Lewis – drums \nRaagaverse \n\n2025 Juno Nominee for Best Jazz Album of the Year (Group)\, Raagaverse\, led by Shruti Ramani (voice) with Jodi Proznick (bass)\, Noah Franche-Nolan (piano) and Nicholas Bracewell (drums)\, is a creative Indo-Jazz fusion band that pays homage to the two deeply historical and culturally-significant genres: classical Hindustani music and Jazz. \nBandleader Shruti Ramani brings her expertise in Hindustani music together with the quartet’s appreciation\, knowledge\, affinity and experience of the Jazz and other musical artforms. Raagaverse retains the authenticity of both traditions\, melding them seamlessly into one cohesive sound that is both dynamic and explosive with immense respect\, depth and beauty. \nShruti’s musical fluency originates from her rigorous Hindustani training and degree under Dr. Ritu Johri in Mumbai\, India\, and her studies leading to a degree in Jazz from Capilano University. Her original compositions use melodies ornamented with traditional Hindustani nuances\, with underlying modern Jazz harmonies and rhythms. \nJodi brings her musical mastery on the bass as well as her insight and experience performing\, recording\, touring and promoting her music. She is also a highly respected music educator. \nNoah is a stellar composer\, pianist and keyboard player well known for his cross-disciplinary collaborations in jazz and classical idioms and for blending different musical styles. \nNicholas is talented young drummer who immediately connected with the music and musicians of Raagaverse. \nThe group’s first performance was on a double bill with the Itamar Erez Quartet at the Fox Cabaret in March 2022 as part of the VIM Music at the Cinemas Series. Since then\, it has been invited to perform for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival\, Kay Meek Arts Centre\, Lulu Performing Arts on Gabriola Island\, VIFF\, Publik Secrets\, the Gordon Smith Gallery Music Series\, the Fort Langley Jazz Festival\, ArtSpring Theatre (Saltspring)\, King Eddy as part of JazzAhead Calgary\, the Jazz at the Bolt series\, High Beam Dreams in Gibsons\, Muzewest and ACT Arts in Maple Ridge. \nExpect energetic and enthralling music from Raagaverse! \nAbout Vancouver Independent Music Centre Society (VIM): \nVIM is a non-profit\, charitable organization established in 2011 with a mandate to develop a well-designed\, central\, accessible\, sustainable and culturally diverse music centre based on feedback from hundreds of musicians\, music presenters\, concertgoers and managers among others. In 2018\, the City of Vancouver passed zoning at the Plaza of Nations to include a 20\,000 square foot music centre based on the VIM’s vision and plans. https://vimhouse.ca  \nThis event is produced by the VIM with support from Canadian Heritage\, Canada Council for the Arts\, Government of BC\, City of Vancouver\, and JTC Heersink Foundation.  \nFor more information or interviews\, please contact Diane Kadota diane@vimhouse.ca  \nAbout Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music (VSO): \n \nEnvisioned by Bramwell Tovey (Music Director Emeritus)\, Arthur H. Willms (Honorary Life Vice President) and Jeff Alexander (former VSO President and CEO) in 2003\, the VSO School of Music was created to provide a modern educational institution next to the Orpheum Theatre\, where students of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds could enjoy lifelong learning and the majority of instructors would be members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Macdonald Development Corporation was approached by the VSO to buy the Capital 6 movie theatre that formerly occupied the site\, with the intention of building a music school: the concept\, including a residential tower above\, was immediately embraced by the company. Wall Financial Corporation later took over the lead role in the project\, and oversaw the construction of the school and residential tower designed by Bingham Hill Architects. Made possible through the City of Vancouver’s Cultural Amenity Bonus Program\, the residents of British Columbia now have a state-of-the-art community music school\, serving students from 3 months old to senior citizens\, catering to all ability levels from beginners to aspiring professionals. \nThe School’s Artistic Advisor is Maestro Otto Tausk\, Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. https://vsoschoolofmusic.ca/about/ \nShare this:FacebookTwitterPocket
